Activities for everyone
The best outdoor activities in Charlevoix — right from your doorstep
There’s no shortage of ways to get outside around Le Relais des Hautes Gorges — and our 480,000 sq. ft. property is already a playground on its own. On site, you’ll find a volleyball court, lawn games like pétanque and Finnish skittles, and seasonal paddleboards with life jackets for getting out on the water. Come winter, the spirit stays the same: snowshoes, ski hok, and crampons are available to keep you exploring once the snow settles in.
Your stay also includes entry to one of the region’s two crown jewels — either the Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie National Park or the Grands-Jardins National Park — plus summer access to the Base de Plein Air du Lac Nairne. A stay that’s active, grounded, and genuinely rooted in the nature of Charlevoix.
Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie National Park
Located 20 minutes from Le Relais, this SÉPAQ park is one of the most spectacular outdoor destinations in Charlevoix — and access is included with your stay. Summer and winter alike, the park has a full range of activities: hiking (including the famous Acropole des Draveurs trail), Rabaska excursions, river cruises, kayaking, canoeing, and cycling in warmer months — snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and winter hiking when the cold sets in. Wild, generous terrain, open year-round. Hours vary by season.
Musée de Charlevoix
About 30 minutes from Le Relais, in La Malbaie, the Musée de Charlevoix draws you into the history, folk art, and heritage of the region. Four exhibition galleries, a local craft boutique, and a rooftop terrace with sweeping views of the St. Lawrence River. A perfect cultural outing on a rainy day, welcoming for all ages. Open year-round — hours vary by season.
Via Ferrata — Les Palissades de Charlevoix
Les Palissades offer three natural via ferrata routes, a spectacular aerial bridge 200 metres above the valley, a 70-metre rappel descent, and two zip lines totalling 250 m across Lac à Jean. Via ferrata blends hiking and climbing — a mountain route secured by steel cables anchored to the rock face, where participants move from ledge to ledge using the natural contours of the rock.
Pourvoirie Domaine Le Pic-Bois
